TORRINGTON >> Stanley J. Marschat 76, of Torrington died Tuesday April 9, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, after a short battle with cancer. Born on June 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Jean and Stanley Marschat, of Harwinton.
A longtime resident of Connecticut, Stanley was owner of S.J. Marschat Construction Company. He served in the U.S. Air force.
He is survived by his beloved companion of forty years, Marcia Gillette of Falls Village. He is also survived by Marcia's son Christopher Gillette, his wife Christine, and their daughters Zoe and Anna of Lakeville. Stanley is survived by his dear sister Irene Edison and her husband Donald of Melbourne, Florida; his nephew Daniel Edison of Colebrook, his niece Sharon Shafer, her husband Dan, and their three sons Jaime, Jonathan, and Kristian Shafer, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Stanley was a very devoted and proud owner of his three cats- Nicky, Billy, and Lilly. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
A private burial at Mountside Cemetery in Canaan, will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will follow this summer.
