WINSTED >> Rosario V. Nicosia, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Torrington following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Coreen (LaGamba) Nicosia who died in 2003. Born in Winsted, June 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Giacinto and Angela (Gibilisco) Nicosia and had lived here all of his life.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he had worked for the Acme Screw Co. in Bristol for 36 years. He was a Sgt in the Army during of WW II, having served in the South Pacific, member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Church and the Disabled American Veterans.
"Rosie's" survivors include his son Robert Nicosia and daughter Sylvia Connor both of Winsted; a brother Eli Nicosia of Alabama; two grandchildren, Paul Connor and Rachel Bombaci; two great-grandchild Seth Connor and Grady Bombaci and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Nicosia, Albert Nicosia, Anthony Nicosia and a sister, Margaret Nicosia.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 10:30 am from the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Joseph new Cemetery.
