1917 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
BARKHAMSTED >> Anne Conn Scott Briegel, 95, of Barkhamsted, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on April 26, 2013. She was born in Renfrew, Scotland, on May 12, 1917, the fourth of five daughters born to John and Margaret Scott.
Her family immigrated to the U.S. in 1922 and resided in Trenton, New Jersey, where she attended school. In 1942, she married Fred Briegel, her husband of 52 years, and moved to Oxford Valley, Pennsylvania, where they partnered in operating the Briegel Brothers Poultry Farm. In 1989, Anne and Fred retired to Barkhamsted. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Torrington, the Barkhamsted Senior Citizens, and continued her membership in the Forward Look Class of Langhorne Methodist Church, Pennsylvania, for over 60 years. Anne will be remembered for her devotion and loving care of her family.
She is survived by her only daughter, Beverly Sanders and her husband William; grandchildren Erin Van Allen and husband Warren; John Doherty and wife Tara; Whitney Ammary and husband Abe; and Will Sanders. She was well-loved by her nieces, nephews and many friends.
Interment will be in Newtown, Pennsylvania, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at their home, 9 Heather Hill Road, Barkhamsted, on Sunday, May 5, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Anne`s memory to the Foothills Visiting Nursing, 32 Union St., Winsted; the Center for Cancer Care, 200 Kennedy Drive, Torrington; or the First United Methodist Church, 21 Fern Drive, Torrington.
