TORRINGTON >> Margaret Sawoska, 93, of Torrington, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, at the Sharon Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Stephen Sawoska. Born Margherita Dassan in Italy, April 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Luigia (Raffaele) and Igresto Dassan.

She was a lifelong resident of Torrington and retiree of The Torrington Company Needle Division. She was a member of Saint Peter Church and the Columbiettes. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Shirley Stephens of Torrington and a son, David Sawoska of The Woodlands Texas. Grandchildren Christine, Jimmy, Jonathan, Matthew and Stephanie; and great grandchildren Courtney, Carlee, Christian and Alexis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Louis and sisters Adeline, Josephine, and Jennie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter Church. Burial will follow at new Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Friday at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave. Torrington. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Sharon Health Care Center and Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association for their kind care of Margaret.
