1946 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
TORRINGTON >> Judith Ann Bekasi of Torrington, Connecticut died at Charolotte Hungerford Hospital on October 17, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. She was the wife of 45 years of John Bekasi.
Born on May 21, 1946, Mrs. Bekasi was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Castelli) Bottass. She was a graduate of the Torrington High School, class of 1964 and received her associate degree from Post College in Waterbury, CT.
Mrs. Bekasi was employed with the Torrington Company, retiring from her position in IT Systems Analysis and Project Management after 35 years of service in 2001. After her retirement, she took on a position in office management at the Brooker Memorial Dental Clinic.
Known for her civic-mindedness, Mrs. Bekasi served as the President of the Little Guild of St. Francis animal shelter in West Cornwall, as well as President of the Litchfield Audubon Society. Most recently, she served as Vice-President of Litchfield Audubon Society, Chairman of the Torrington Trails Network and Tour Guide at the Torrington Historical Society.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by siblings Robert Bottass & wife JoAnne and David Bottass & wife Cathy of Torrington. She is also survived by her beloved nephews Robert Bottass Jr & wife Melanie of Hampden, MA and their children Casey & Jacob as well as Michael Bottass and his wife Mary of Budd Lake, NJ and their sons Ryan & Collin. She also leaves behind her treasured feline companions Beggar, Marmalade and Teaser.
Friends may pay their last respects at the Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, CT on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:30am with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St Peter Church. Interment to follow at the family plot in the Newfield Cemetery.
