George Winegar Jr. Obituary
WINEGAR, GEORGE JR. George Winegar, Jr, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home. He was the loving husband of Joan (Crunden) Winegar for 58 years, they danced the years away. Born December 10, 1938 in Torrington; the son of the late George and Beatrice (Neri) Winegar. George lived in West Hartland most of his life. He worked at Dalene Flooring for over 50 years. He always looked and commented on any hardwood floor he saw. He was a member of the West Hartland Volunteer Fire Department. There are stories when the men rescued people stuck in the Hartland Hollow with the snowmobiles during bad snowstorms. As a tribute to his father-in-law, the late Paul Crunden, he was a member of the Hartland Lions Club. His children always heard stories of when he was in the St. Mary’s Drum Corps. George was an avid golfer and bowler. He also enjoyed fishing, which he brought all his children to enjoy with him at Howells Pond. George began a passion for learning his geneology, which he enjoyed talking about with his Aunt Carolyn Balsamo. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. He was the patriarch of the family. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, William Winegar and husband Beau of MA, Keith Winegar and his significant other, Patti Rice of Torrington; a daughter, Heather Mudano, and her husband, Dave of Simsbury; grandchildren, CJ, John Michael, Abby and Robby; and a great-granddaughter, Autumn, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Steet, Winsted from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church, Winsted at 10 AM. Burial will be held at West Hartland Center Cemetery at a time to be announced.
