Timothy Johnson Obituary

Johnson

January 29, 1960-
October 21, 2012

Tim Johnson, a beloved man, friend, husband, brother, father, son, will be missed by every life he touched. There are those few people who, if you are lucky enough, cross your path and really inspire you to be the best you can possibly be. There is as much to celebrate about this man as there is to mourn. Sadly, after a fierce battle with cancer, Tim passed away Sunday the 21st of October, 2012, at the young age of 52. Preceded in death by his mother Patricia Moffett Johnson and his father Robert Earl Johnson of Noti, Oregon. Tim is survived by his wife of 20 years Megan Green Johnson of Franklin, TN, his young children Jack and Ceynor Johnson, as well as sisters Kristi Roberts and Paula Goodspeed who reside in California, brother Mark Johnson of Veneta, Oregon, and in-laws Lewis and Sandra Green of Brentwood, TN and a plethora of extended family and friends, all who love him very much. Tim grew up in Noti, Oregon. He attended Willamette University on a wrestling scholarship and later transferred to and graduated from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). Tim then spent several years in Japan teaching English and developing a love of sushi. One of his greatest passions was traveling which led him to places such as Thailand, Italy, The Netherlands, the U.K. and Mexico to name a few. In 1989, Tim moved permanently to Nashville to pursue a career in music. He was an amazing songwriter, but more than that, a sweet human being with an indelible spirit and wit who touched so many hearts. As a constant believer in chasing the dream, he was quick to inspire new singers and songwriters. Tim's brilliance lifted our spirits and made us think. Tim was on the board of the Nashville Songwriters Association International and lobbied for the rights of songwriters. He was also an affiliate of the Songwriter Institute and cofounder of The Song Trust. Tim was very active in the community contributing his talent to raise money for all types of charities including the 4-H of Williamson County, MusiCares, Saddle Up!, and countless others. His vast generosity enriched the lives of so many. With a legacy of family, love and songs, Tim Johnson's mark on this life is immeasurable.

A Celebration of Tim's Life was held at Cheekwood's Massey Hall, Thursday the 1st of November. A memorial scholarship has been set up in Tim's name with the Williamson County 4-H. Donations may be sent to: Williamson County 4-H, 4215 Long Lane, Ste. 200, Franklin, TN 37064.Please sign the guest book at www.registerguard.com/legacy

I went to high school with Tim, but didn't know him real well. He was quiet & a bit shy, if I remember correctly. But what I do remember is that he had a sweet spirit & he was just a genuinely nice guy. All of you in his family are in my prayers.

I knew Tim for as long as I can remember. When Tim would come back to Oregon he was the same ol Tim. Tim was so much a mixture of Bobby and Patty. I will never forget the first song that Tim had wrote that made it on the radio because Patty called everyone in our family and probably half the people in Noti to let them know . They were very proud of him. My sympathy goes out to his wife and kids and the Johnson Family.

I knew Tim long, long ago in Tokyo. We worked together for about two years, but remember him well. I'm still in Japan, working at the same school. Tim: a very good man. Everyone liked him, particularly the students, which was most important. My sympathies to his family, which lost him at such a young age.

Tim was always an inspiration to me. I grew up in Veneta, OR. Tim and I used to have long talks about the journies in life. I dated Tim for about six months in 1979. He always treated me like a princesse. Tim was a very giving man and very passionate about giving back to the community. Tim had such talent as a songwriter.I am proud to have known Tim. Tim will surely be missed. I never knew his family. You were blessed to have such an incredible man in your life!! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My Uncle was a great. He had talent that many of us wish he could have. He also had a great sence of humor. When he took his driver test my grand mother said he was cited for going too slow. There are very few people in this world that touch so many people. Once when I was about eight or nine I asked how he wrote a song. He said that he just looked at every thing in the room and he came up with a song about sitting in grampa's rocking chair. Love and miss you all the time UNCLE Tim.

I cannot begin to have the words to express the loss we feel at this time. Tim had the 'words'. As a close family member,we still feel the sting of Patricia and Bobby's deaths. Tim makes it a trio and opens the wounds of our grief afresh. Our sympathy goes to his wife, Megan, and to their children, to his siblings, Kristi, Paula and Mark. We love you all and our hearts mourn with you. Becky
