Diederich, Michael
Michael Joseph Diederich July 22, 1940 - January 22, 2016 Mike Diederich passed away peacefully at home in Eugene, Oregon, surrounded by loved ones, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 22, 1940 in Riverside, California to Raymond and Antoinette "Tavy" Diederich. Mike graduated from Ramona High School in 1958, where he played football and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Missy Stearns, in 1961. Mike and Missy raised their family in Riverside. It was during many family vacations to the pacific northwest that they fell in love with Oregon. They moved to Pleasant Hill, Oregon for two years, in 1986 and were delighted to return and call Oregon home again, this past summer. Mike's passions included gardening, cooking, grilling, sports and trips to Las Vegas with his family. He could grow enough produce for the entire neighborhood, and had perfected his recipe for barbecued ribs. He was an avid bowler, loved to fish, golf, and had the ultimate "poker face". He spent many years involved in youth sports in Riverside. He had the perfect demeanor for his years as a little league umpire and loved coaching Pony League baseball. A highlight was taking his all-star team to compete in Japan in 1976. Those who knew Mike appreciated his strength of character, understated generosity and genuine, good heart. They also knew he was a jokester and his victims were many. He had an unforgettable smile. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Missy. His children Shelley and Tom Miller, Chris Diederich and Catherine Diederich. Grandchildren Sydney, Tori, Trent and Katie. His siblings Mary Beth Scott and Jim Diederich. Very special love and thank you to Cheryl Tavaglione and Claire Barr for their time and care. To many dear family, friends and neighbors who joined Mike and family recently, traveling from all corners, to share stories and memories, good meals and laughter, thank you. No services are planned. Remembrances to Ramona High School Athletics c/o John Tibbles 7675 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504

She has left the burden of her life-long battle with diabetes and the restriction of being bed-ridden for seven years behind. Her Fortress at Avamere, that same bed and same window she fought so hard from, The caregivers and hospice warriors there that cared and comforted her. The room her family and friends filled with visits. She has left there and moved on. We know she is all around us now in the Gardens, the Forest, and the Rivers of her Willamette Valley homeland. She attended George Washington Elementary School, James Madison Junior High, and Sheldon High School where she sewed her own mini-dresses with her Grandmother's help because Twiggy had one and no shop in Eugene had them yet. She was a child of nature having grown up around her Grandfather's Nursery in Springfield, Paddock & Bauer Nursery. She worked there on and off as a child and as a young woman learning how nature works and loving its artistry. She worked at Reed and Cross, ending up as a buyer for their store. She went to buyer's markets around the country bringing back incredible finds. She fell in love with her "Cowboy" Dan. A strong man who made her feel safe and loved. They married and had a son, Jesse. They made their life in Dan's boyhood home in Springfield. Vicki's loves included FAMILY, Flowers, Plants, Gardening, Reading magazines and the Register Guard, Travel, Fashion, the Oscars and Emmys, Music, Art, History, Dragon Flies, Fly Fishing in her younger years, Movies, And anything Raspberry or Raspberry flavored because of the Edney family's fresh Raspberries.
