Greg Robertson Morrow(1951-2013)

Greg Robertson Morrow, 62, devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed on November 1st, 2013. He was born July 1st, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Bud and Marjorie Morrow.

A collegiate swimmer, he moved to Eugene, Oregon after deciding Arizona was too hot. In 1970, on the Oregon Coast, he met the love of his life, Patty. After graduating from the University of Oregon, they spent two years with the Peace Corps in Afghanistan. They returned to Oregon to build a homestead, accessible only by trail, with no electricity or modern amenities. Life with family and horses was sweet in the forested foothills of Lorane.

A self-taught builder, he worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He started Morrow and Sons Design and Construction in 1978 and built award winning timber-framed barns and modern homes throughout the Pacific Northwest. Greg was an avid reader, gardener, craftsman, architect, mentor, and environmentalist. He spent many years coaching and attending his children's athletic events throughout Oregon. He enjoyed hiking and camping, especially in the Three Sisters Wilderness and in the hills surrounding his home with his big dog Sam. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, as family was the most important aspect of his life.

He was known for his strength, courage, and unstoppable will. He had a remarkable sense of wit and humor, and he touched many people's lives with his warmth, generosity and laughter.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, two sons, a daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and brother. Greg will be remembered and missed dearly by all who knew and admired him. A memorial will be held December 7th, Saturday at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Oregon Wild www.oregonwild.org in memory of Greg Morrow.
