Barbara Jean Tait passed away at her home in Florence, Oregon on August 29 2018, surrounded by her children and husband Alan.

Words can't begin to describe her kindness, great intelligence and wit. An avid reader, queen of the crossword, she could cut through baloney with the raise of an eyebrow. We love you to the moon and back; we love you to pieces; we love you more; we love you now and forever.

Barbara was born in Dillon, Montana on January 25, 1926 and grew up in Beaverhead County, Montana. She attended St James School of Nursing in Butte Montana and served as a Nurse Cadet during WWII. On October 7, 1947 she married long-time sweetheart Alan D Tait in Dillon. Al & Barb traveled the US during the course of his military service in the Navy. Their 5 children were born in Rhode Island, Florida, Hawaii and California. The family lived in California after Al ended active duty. In 1980 Al & Barb settled in Florence, where they built their own home with a stunning view of the Oregon coast. They also maintained a small home in Montana. Barb & Al traveled extensively visiting China, Europe, Scandinavia and South America. Barbara served as secretary of the local NARFE chapter, and was a Whale Watch Guide for OSU Extension Services. She used her nursing experience for decades of volunteer work with Peace Harbor Hospital and the Oncology Clinic in Florence.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harry S & Nonie K Tash and Harry Tash Jr, daughter-in-law Sarah Tait and daughter Jennifer Lee Brady. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Alan D. Tait; brother and sister-in-law William and Marlene Tash; numerous nieces and nephews; four children, two sons-in-law, eleven grandchildren, two grandchildren-in-law and two great grandchildren: George Tait & children Susan & Larry; Jean Atalla and children Jessica & Andrew; Janet and Dave Moulton and children Melody, Sam & Eli, plus wife Kati Texas and baby Hamilton; Kathlyn and Jim Powers and children Robert and Alex, plus wife Sara; Nicole Young, Katie Ann Young and baby Gannon.

The family extends its gratitude to Peace Harbor Clinic, Hospital, Home Health and Hospice teams, as well as the staff and residents of Shorewood Senior Living, for the care and friendship you have given to our parents over the years.

Services to be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to Florence Food Share in Barbara's name.
