Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Edwin Roelof Manten.

Roelof Manten died suddenly on Friday, September 7th in Poulsbo, WA, having just docked after a days-long trip on his beloved boat. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Katarina DeHont Bakker, Roelof immigrated to the US with his family at age 13 and lived in the Phoenix, Arizona area. After high school, he joined the US Army, served his adopted country, and became a US citizen. He lived in Santa Barbara, Oxnard, throughout the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, and in Marcola, Oregon. He was an avid fisherman and active outdoorsman; he hiked, backpacked, and climbed; loved boating and the ocean. He was never more at ease than when on a boat on the ocean. May he rest in peace.

He is survived by his two daughters, Vanessa Manten and Veronica Stitler, and his life partner Laurie Smart.
