Galen Worth Howard passed away at his home in Springfield on October 16, 2018. He was born May 2, 1945 in Roseburg to William Worth Howard and Ellen Marie Rohrbaugh. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from the U of O and worked as a principal planner at Lane Council of Governments for 37 years. He was instrumental in developing the 911 emergency response program in Lane County.

Galen is remembered by his family for his kindness, intelligence, and great love of his family. He loved nature, spending time cross country skiing, gardening, and swimming in the Umpqua River. He married Kathleen Culley Howard on July 25, 1970 and together they had one daughter, Marion. He is survived by Kathleen, Marion (spouse Jesse Jensen), granddaughter Edith, sister Ardele Whitten, and brother Dennis Howard.

Galen was always there for all of us and we will miss him forever.
