Patricia Mae "Pat" Aldous (1927 - 2018)

  • "May the entire family find peace in knowing that God cares..."

November 3, 1927 - September 10, 2018

Pat was born in 1927 to Claud and Alma Howard in Eugene, OR. She was raised in Eugene and then the family moved to a ranch in Mabel, OR. where she attended Mohawk Union High School. It was there she met Ed Aldous and they were married November 23, 1945. Pat and Ed moved to Drain in 1957 and made it their home.

Pat worked by cleaning homes and businesses in the early morning hours while being a homemaker. She later became assistant librarian for the City of Drain and then head librarian. She remained head librarian for the Drain Branch of the Douglas County Library system until her retirement.

She was very involved in the Drain community. Pat served many terms on several committees but her favorite was Friends of the Library. Reading was her passion! Other interests were playing bingo, jigsaw puzzles, baking, canning, and watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune.

We could go on and on about what a good, strong influence Pat was to all her family. But in her own words, "I want a nice obituary - nothing mushy."

During Pat's life she lost her husband, her son John, and daughter Charlotte. She is survived by her Sister Ruth, daughters Carol and Kathy, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, 6 nieces, 11 nephews, and brother-in-law Tom Aldous. Plus countless others that considered her Mom, Grandma, and friend.

At Pat's request, no service is planned. She will be buried at East Drain Cemetery. In her memory donations can be made to Friends of the Mildred Whipple Library (PO Box 128, Drain, Or 97435),The Salvation Army, or OHSU.
