A graveside service will be held November 10, at 2:00pm, for Shirley M. Smith of Junction City. She died on October 30, 2018, of complications due to Alzheimer's Disease. She was 83 years old.

She was born July 21, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to George F. and Mary Elizabeth Reed. She was a graduate of Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, California, and pursued business courses at community college. She married Daniel E. Smith, on June 26, 1953, in Long Beach, California, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in 2005. She worked at Monroe High School as Deputy Clerk for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. Later, she volunteered to serve several years on the Finance Committee for the City of Junction City.

She was a faithful member of the Church of the Firstborn, and a dedicated, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a prolific reader and also enjoyed working on genealogy, going camping, and singing or listening to music-especially gospel music, of which she knew by heart the words to a countless number of songs. Shirley was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks from all over the U.S. She also was a sports fan and enjoyed watching football.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheridan (son-in-law, Gary) of Cheshire, a son, Cameron (daughter-in-law, Anna) of Monroe, a sister, Joyce of Long Beach, California, a brother, Richard (sister-in-law, Carol) of La Quinta, California, three grandsons, three granddaughters, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, five nieces, and two nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Smith, in 2003.

The graveside service will be held at Rest Lawn Cemetery on Territorial Road, Junction City. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Church of the Firstborn in Monroe.
