Dorothy Anderson, 80, passed away at home on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
Dorothy, the daughter of Rudolph and Helen Siegmund was born November 9, 1933 and raised in Eugene, Oregon. She was a graduate of Eugene High School. In 1951 she married George H. Anderson. Dorothy moved with George from Eugene to Camp Pendleton where he was stationed with the United States Marine Corps. The couple moved to Klamath Falls after George was discharged from the military. Dorothy and George welcomed two children, Steven and Nancy, into the world. In the early 60's they moved to Medford where Dorothy volunteered her time at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital. After living in Medford for five years the family settled in Portland.
In addition to raising her children, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering her time outside of the home. After parting ways with George, Dorothy went to work for Albertson's and later Lamb's Thriftway. For the last 15 years she volunteered at Cedar Mill Community Library. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, annual family trips to Cannon Beach, traveling to Hawaii and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy will be missed by her son, Steven W. Anderson; daughter, Nancy M. Tate; son in law, Michael J. Tate; granddaughters, Tristin M. Taylor and Tanya R. Engh; grandson, Trai Anderson-Smith; great-granddaughter, Aspen R. Taylor and great-grandson, Finnegan H. Engh. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Siegmund and sister, Mary Anne Petersen.
Private interment will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
