Scott R. Carpenter "Good Looking Scott Carpenter" November 4, 1949- February 10, 2009 On February 10, Paula Chan Carpenter sent a text message which read, "Scott left me this morning at 1:23 a.m., following the beautiful bright full moon." Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of "Good Looking Scott Carpenter." The gathering will be at Brindiamo Event Center at the Emerald Valley Golf Course, 600 Dale Kuni Road in Creswell on Sunday, February 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. They will celebrate a man whose extraordinary social grace, unfailing good manners, and incisive humor touched the lives of everyone he met. Scott and Paula especially loved France, visiting Paris seven times, always returning to the same restaurant where they and 14 friends and relations celebrated Scott's 50th birthday. Scott never drew focus to himself, but always gave others a chance to shine. So few knew that he was a former NICU Cuddler, played a lead role in the LCC Advocate's 1987 Tax Base election, and volunteered for KLCC Public Radio, Lane League, and Environmental Law. He was interested in the Legislature, Coastal Conservancy, and the Oregon Watershed Council. Scott will be greatly missed by his friends, family and kitty Brae Burn. He fought a courageous battle and inspires all to live life to the fullest. Scott's family would like to thank his doctors and friends for all the support, love and prayers, and the Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend nurses, including Nan, Annie, Angela, Amy, and Liz for their gentle and loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart's Strings of Compassion, 3333 RiverBend Drive, Springfield, OR 97477 or to the Nursing Scholarship Fund at the LCC Foundation, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97405 .
