Castaldo, Georgia Rae (Finley), 67, passed away September 17, 2012 at her home in Temple Terrace, Florida; her children by her side. Born Georgia Rae Finley on October 2, 1944 to Eddie and Jewel Finley of Junction City, Oregon, she grew up the youngest of nine children. Georgia graduated from Junction City High School in 1962 and married Larry Mikkelsen. They had two sons Dennis and Kevin and resided at the Mikkelsen family farm on Cox Butte in Junction City. In 1981 Georgia moved to Florida. She worked for the City of Temple Terrace Police Department, and she married Dominick Castaldo (now deceased). Retiring in 2002 as a 911 Dispatch Supervisor, Georgia found many ways to stay busy. She worked in new home sales and later earned a real estate license. More recently, she found time to help out some friends at a local coin shop, bringing home many entertaining stories. When she wasn't working, Georgia enjoyed spending time in her garden, decorating her home, walking on the beach, and playing board games with friends in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area. Known for having a soft spot for animals, Georgia gave a loving home to a number of abandoned pets over the years. She leaves behind two rescues, dog Scooby and cat Casey, who will be placed with family per her wishes.
Georgia was preceded in death by husband Dominick Castaldo; brother Ron Finley; and sisters Delpha Jensen and Patricia Finley. Survivors are Dennis and Vonnie Mikkelsen of Land O'Lakes Florida, Kevin and Michelle Mikkelsen of Eugene Oregon; grandchildren Karli of Tampa Florida, Brooks and Lane both of Eugene; Brother Eddie Finley of Harrisburg Oregon; Sisters Bonnie Philips of Junction City Oregon, Audean Wymer of Springfield Oregon, Betty Carlson of Arizona, Linda Foresee of Junction City Oregon, and many nieces and nephews.
She was beautiful, she was loved, and she will be missed. Her life will be celebrated every day. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her memory to LifePath Hospice of Chapters Health System, 12973 North Telecom Parkway, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
