Nancy Jean

Lynchild

1948 - 2012

EUGENE, OREGON - Nancy Jean Lynchild of Eugene, Oregon, died Dec. 22 of metastatic breast cancer. She was 64. A graveside tribute may be held at a later date.

Nancy was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Oneida, New York, to Leonard and Leonora (Bowes) Sweezey. On Nov. 16, 2010, she married Linda Campbell in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

She attended college in Buffalo, New York from 1966 to 1970. She later received a certificate with honors in computer networking at George Washington University. She moved to California and became a journeyman electrician and was, for many years, among "the first women to do that work."

Nancy moved to Oregon and was employed at the Lane County Housing Authority, also as an electrician. Later, she became their Administrator of housing programs.

In the mid 1990's, she and Linda moved to Washington, DC where Nancy worked for a national association representing housing authorities from across the country. After retirement, Nancy and Linda returned to Eugene where they continued to consult on housing authority matters and policies.

Nancy was happiest when hiking, biking and riding motor scooters with Linda. She loved bird watching, and was an avid fan of Oregon football and Oregon women's basketball.

Nancy is survived by her spouse, Linda of Eugene, two brothers and one sister of New York and three sisters and one brother of Jacksonville, Florida. Survivors include an adopted daughter, Tonya Carreon of Moscow, Idaho.

Arrangements by Andreason's Creamation & Burial Service in Springfield. Remembrances may be given to Food for Lane County, OPB, Nature Conservancy, or Rails to Trails. Please sign the guest book at www.registerguard.com/legacy

Nancy was the kindest woman I ever knew besides her wife , Linda I met them by cleaning their home through a cleaning agency which turned into my coming to clean for them privately on account of them coming to how much I was being paid through the company out of the large amount they were paying . I cleaned for them for a couple years bringing my daughter into the home and their lives they grew to be an extended family for us as well as my biggest supporters in education going as far as to buy my school books every term I was in college. I cherished their friendship and I learned so much about being a stronger woman and my capabilities from these women. I think of them often and miss them terribly .

Nancy pushed me, she guided me and on many occasions she laughed with me. I am sorry that she had so little time but what she had she made use of and lived fully. I am so glad that she and Linda found each other and were able to make a life together.

Although I regret I did not know Nancy better, I will always remember her with great fondness. She was a kind and skillful Chess-player in the game of life. Her believe in "doing the right thing" guided and enhanced Lane County housing programs for decades. Linda, I send my sincere condolences.

I was very sad to hear of Nancy's passing. I always admired her so much -- her strength, her knowledge, her willingness to help people, her work ethic. I regret not keeping in touch with her over the years. I always enjoyed working with her at HACSA. I am glad her suffering is over. May you find peace in the memories of the time you spent together, Linda.

The days pass and yet I have been unable to find words that seem to express my thoughts adequately. Bob and Monte summed it up eloquently stating Nancy is the strongest, bravest person they know. I would simply like to add, 'and without a doubt, an extraordinary woman of wisdom.' God rest her soul.

Much love, Judy

Nancy, we will miss you and think of you often. Bright, gracious, charming, and deeply caring. You were well loved and we are less because you are gone. Linda, we all love you.

Nancy, I didn't have the privilege of knowing you well, but your obvious grace, kindness, and depth of spirit are reflected in the love that others have for you, in their deep feelings of loss, and in the inspiring ways that you touched their lives. Thank you for being a faithful and devoted companion to my long-time friend, Linda. Peace attend you forever more.

Linda, I loved reading about Nancy to know more about her. I know she will always be with you and part of you. Somehow, she has always been a kind of angel or spirit in my mind. Her strength was always paired with yours and that will help get you through. We're thinking of you.

Nancy was one of the kindest people I've met. From Nancy and Linda, I can now say...so that's what "love of my life" looks like. I'm sorry your time together had to end but glad for what you had. Onward, Linda.

You fought the good fight, with strength and dignity, sorry you lost the battle against cancer. I appreciated the lessons I learned from that, rest in peace, there's no more pain, only a touch of saddness in our hearts and souls.
