Donald R. Robbins, 92, of Lewisburg, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Heartland of Eaton.
Born on June 5, 1920 in Morgan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James E. & Anna M. (Cassity) Robbins. Don retired in 1977 from Chrysler Airtemp in Dayton after 30 years as a machinist, a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran, member of VFW Post #975 in Lewisburg, Open Bible Church in Ithaca, OH and The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He enjoyed woodworking and bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Geneva (Fugate) Robbins in 2005; son: Eddie L. Robbins in 1993; daughter: Charlotte Y. Kier in 2002; great-granddaughter: Madison Renee' Sparks in 2002; brothers: Clyde C. Robbins, Vannon Evert Robbins, Sr. and Norman O. Robbins; half brothers: Carl, Virgil and Jimmy Ratliff.
He is survived by son & daughter-in-law: Dana Bruce (Vicki) Robbins; daughter & son-in-law: Brenda (Jessie) Robbins, all Lewisburg; sister: Ailene Kilgore, Greenfield; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
