Joseph J. Brubaker, 91, of Karnes City, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Kenedy, Texas, at the John Paul II Nursing Home.
Mr. Brubaker was born March 10, 1921, in Eaton, to Albert and Myrtle Brubaker. He was married to Betty Jean Leiber on Feb. 28, 1943. He was a member of The United Methodist Church in Karnes City, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Leiber Brubaker, his son J. Craig Brubaker, daughter Connie Brubaker Gaede, daughter in law Christine Brubaker, granddaughter Cassie Gotthardt, her husband Mark Gotthardt and three great-granddaughters Kathryn Gotthardt, Clara Gotthardt and Lily Gotthardt.
Mr. Brubaker was a graduate of Dixie High School (New Lebanon), Ashland College (Ashland, Ohio); and Miami University (Oxford).
His teaching and administrative career spanned 30 years touching literally thousands of students. He served as teacher and coach at Jackson High School and Monroe High School, high school principal at Gratis High School (Gratis), high school principal and superintendent at Farmersville High School (Farmersville) and Assistant Superintendent at Valley View School District (Farmersville/Germantown).
A memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church in Karnes City, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 2.
