Thelma Sarver


EATON — Thelma Ida Sarver, 94, of Eaton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Vancrest Health Care Center, Eaton.

She was born Aug. 26, 1919 in West Alexandria, to the late Earl J. and Laura Mae Rike. Thelma was a member of The Church of Christ, Eaton; was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #8066, Eaton; and was a member of the 25 years club of Westvaco from where she retired.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Raymond G. "Peck" Sarver, who passed away on Jan. 12, 1969; son Alan Sarver, who passed away in 1979; sisters Marjorie Cottrell, Dorothy Lindsey, Rosemary Wehrley and Betty Houser; and brothers Virgil "Pete" Rike.

She is survived by her sons William "Bill" (Sonnie) Rike of Springfield, James Sarver of New Madison, and Larry (Pam) Sarver of Eaton; brother Donald (Penny) Rike of Middletown; 13 grandchildren and spouses; 29 great-grandchildren and spouses; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 3, at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, with Rev. Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton.
