Herman L. Roach, 86, of Longview, Texas and formerly of Eaton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sept. 22, 2013.
Born Jan. 8, 1927 in Hamilton, to William Henry and Nora (Alcorn) Roach, Herman was one of seven children and grew up in Miamisburg, where he attended Miamisburg City Schools. Herman retired from Delco Moriane, Division of General Motors, after 30 years of service, in 1980. He was a member of Local 696 Autoworkers Union and a member of the 25 Year Club. Previous to moving to Northeast Texas, Herman and his wife Mina resided in Eaton, where he enjoyed farming, hunting and camping. They were active members of the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church. After retiring, Herman and wife Mina spent many enjoyable hours fishing in Lake Okechobee, Florida, where they resided prior to moving to Hughes Springs. After moving to Hughes Springs, Texas, Herman was an active member of the Veal Switch Baptist Church in Hughes Springs.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years: Mina (Centers) Roach in 2012; his parents; sisters, Flossie (Miller) Roach, Carrie (Abner) Roach, and Helen Roach; brother, Ronald Roach; and great-grandson, Dylan Roach.
He is survived by sons, Michael Roach (Patsy), Stephen Roach (Vicki), and Larry Roach (Simone); five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; brother: David (Marie) Roach; sister: Wanda Warmouth.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 30, at Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, with Pastor Jim Shihady officiating. Interment was at Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton.
