
James Gary Phillips, 61, of Eaton, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.
James was born on Dec. 26, 1951 in Lee County, Virginia, son of the late James Paul & Joqunia Ann (Kegley) Phillips. James retired in 2002 after 25 years as a manager for Carter Lumber in Eaton and Hamilton, and was a member of the Eagles lodge in Gratis. He attended the Higher Heights Church of God in Camden.
He was preceded in death by father, James Paul Phillips in 1990; mother, Joqunia Ann (Kegley) Phillips in 2002; sisters, Cynthia Gail Gabbard in 2011 and Patricia Darlene Cooley in 2008.
He is survived by wife, Sharon J. (Pieper) Phillips of Eaton; sons, Jake French and Jeremey (Janine Blunk) French both of Eaton; daughter, Marcy L. (Paul Carpenter) Phillips of Patriot; sisters, H. Jeanette (Gary C.) Howard of Camden, Tina L. (Melvin Legg) Fields and Marilyn A. (Darold) Grubb all of Eaton, and Lisa L. (Michael) Calabrese of New Castle, Pennsylvania; nieces, Samantha Pieper of Alabama and Jessica Gambrel of Kentucky; granddaughter, Jaden Best of Eaton; grandsons, Daniel and Damien; step granddaughters, Justine and Carla; numerous foster kids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, with Rev. Gary Wood officiating. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home in Eaton. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
