James L. Powell, 73 of West Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his residence.
Born on January 21, 1940 in Trenton, he was the son of the late Stanley & Helen (Shafer) Powell. Jim was a 1958 Farmersville High School graduate. He was a long time Preble County dairy farmer, avid bowler and euchre player. Member of the American Bowling Congress where he received recognition for two 300 games.
He was preceded in death by brother: Robert Powell in 2009 and sister: Betty Powell in 2012.
He is survived by wife of 45 years: Rebecca Sue (Hawkey) Powell; two sons & daughters-in-law: Paul E. & Tina Powell of Eaton and James S. & Kilea Powell of Fort Recovery; six brothers: Norman (Sharon) Powell of Eaton; Tom (Patty) Powell of West Alexandria; John (Georgia) Powell and William (Joanne) Powell both of Lewisburg; Richard Powell of Farmersville; Gerald (Patty) Powell of Massey, Ontario Canada, uncle Luther Powell (100 years old) of Somerville; seven grandchildren: Heavyn Powell, Brandon Powell, Caitlyn Powell, Damien Powell, Lilly Powell, Tyler Francis and Abbie Francis.
Funeral service was Saturday, April 20, at Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, with Rev. Rodney Shelley and Pastor John Gilmore officiating. Interment was held in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester.
