Joan Beshears, 69, of Nancy, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1943 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Ruth Sizemore Martin. She had formerly worked as an expeditor and shipping clerk for Parker Hannifin in Eaton. Mrs. Beshears was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Dwain Beshears, whom she married on Feb. 15, 1969 in Liberty, Indiana; a son, James (Tonya) Beshears of West Alexandria; two daughters, Debbie (and Dan) Swafford of Cookeville, Tennessee and Bonnie (and Doug) Gossett of West Alexandria, OH; grandchildren, Sarah (and Ryan); Leah (and Jon); Rachel (and Josh), Alisha, Curt, Charlene, Dalton, David, Vanity, Keegan and Hunter; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Avon Purtlebaugh of Liberty, Indiana and Shirley Cook of Hamilton.
Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Lee.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky.
Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Reggie Tipton and Brother James Floyd. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
