William E. "Bill" Myers, 84, formerly of Eldorado, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Heartland of Eaton.
He was born June 21, 1928 in Gasper Township, Preble County, the only child of the late Henry & Eula (Wright) Myers. Bill worked as a farmer alongside his father, and proudly served in the US Army. In 1958, he and his parents moved to a farmhouse at the south end of Eldorado, where he lived until going to Heartland of Eaton in August of 2006.
Bill was employed by the State of Ohio for several years. In the fall of 1962, he became an employee of the village of Eldorado, a position he held until his retirement in January of 1985. He was a former member of the Eldorado Lions Club and member of the American Legion Post 765, West Manchester.
Survivors include his friends in Eldorado, and the staff of Heartland of Eaton, who had become his extended family in recent years.
Funeral service was held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, with Pastor Kathy Brawley officiating. Burial followed in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
