OSCAR WILSON

EATON — Oscar Wilson, 90, of Eaton, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.

Born on Nov. 26, 1923 in Helton, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Nora (North) Wilson. Oscar attended school in a one room school house in Helton, Kentucky. At age 14 he joined and worked with the CCC for two years. In 1939 he joined the US Army for six years. He started work at GM in Dayton, in 1945, retiring in 1975. He was a 50-plus year member and past master of the Masonic Lodge #482 F & AM at Farmersville, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, avid hunter and fisherman, United Methodist Church at New Lebanon, and Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally (Short) Wilson of 63 years, on April 12, 2009; brothers, Stanley Wilson, Frank Wilson and Elzie Wilson; sister, Sylvia Mobley.

He is survived by his son: Larry A. Wilson of Winter Haven, Florida, daughter: Sharon (Bill) Peters of Farmersville, brothers: Earl (Phyllis) Wilson of Wellston, Orville Wilson of Dayton, and Phillip (Susie) Wilson of Tipp City, sister: Elsie (Albert) Moseley of Roseburg, Oregon; sister-in-law: Oma Wilson of Charleston, South Carolina, grandchildren: Bart (Jenifer) Peters of California and Anna (Shon) Flint of Babson Park, Florida; great-grandchildren: Ty Flint, LaRae Flint and Hudson Peters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 E. Main St., Eaton with Pastor Stan VanAusdal officiating. Interment was held at Mound Hill Cemetery at Eaton, with full graveside military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
