EATON — Lane Autry Whitman, 74, of Eaton, and formerly of Chapmanville, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Dayton VA Hospital Hospice Unit, Dayton.

He was born June 27, 1940 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Enoch and Fay (Farmer) Whitman. Mr. Whitman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years, serving two tours in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James O. Whitman. He is survived by his sons Paul G. (Carol) Whitman of Medina, Doulphus D. (Beverly) Whitman of Eaton, and Enoch (Renee) Whitman of Cuyahoga Falls; brother William H. (Carol) Whitman of Plandome, New York; sisters Regina Bromley of Baltimore, Maryland and Betty Workman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Chapmanville, West Virginia. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
