Barbara Jean Brewer, 72, of Eaton, passed away Aug. 16, 2013.
Barbara was born Dec. 28, 1940 in LaGrange, Indiana to Walter and Lilah (Nelson) Bartels. Barbara married Edward Lewis Brewer II on February 24, 1962 in LaGrange, Indiana. She has lived in Eaton since 1987. She was a retired CPA who worked 10-plus years at Harris Allied.
Barbara was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She attended Eaton First Church of God and taught Sunday School for many years for various school age children. She had been a member on the Board of Christian Ed and a member in the church choir. Barbara never smoked a cigarette, never drank a taste of alcohol, and never touched a drug. She was an example of moral integrity and clean living. She had been a member of the Preble County Lyric Club. Her other interests included stamping, scrapbooking, quilting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward; one son and daughter-in-law: Edward III & Barbara A. (Walters) of Trenton, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-laws: Deborah & John Bryant of Shreveport, Louisiana and Lori & Matthew Wheeler of Eaton; six grandsons: Edward IV (Jack), Spencer, & Stephen Brewer; Matthew, Luke, & Aaron Bryant; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law Amanda & Ryan Owens; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Charles and Lois Bartels, Humboldt, Tennessee; David and May Bartels, Winter Park, Florida; and William and Judy Bartels, Greendale, Wisconsin; one brother-in-law: Ralph Smith; 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved sister Beverly Smith.
Funeral service will be held at the First Church of God, 601 East Lexington Road, Eaton, at 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 21, with Dr. Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Interment will be in Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, Aug. 20, 5-8 p.m. at the First Church of God. Memorial donation can be made to the Eaton First church of God. Arrangements by Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center-Preble Memory Gardens.
