LOSCHUK, Rose April 29, 1930 – June 20, 2016 Rose Loschuk, didn't suffer much, rather she drifted away and passed peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the age of 86 years. Rose was born in Evansburg, AB to Katrina and Peter Powlen, the second last of five sisters. She met and married Joe; they resided in Edmonton until after the boys were born, moving to Calgary in 1958. Rose worked hard and liked to visit with family, home making and running a small business with Joe. She always grew a garden, scrimped and saved to afford luxury, and travel. Rose had a go getter and do better attitude. Although in hospice, Rose claimed it was one of her best parties ever, having fun with many family and friends visiting, telling stories and taking care. We are ever so grateful for having her in our lives. She will be missed. Rose is survived by sons: Larry and Aubrey; grandchildren: Cara, Katie, Devin, Chalsey, Corri, Amy and Jake; great-grandchildren: Ela, Marley, Devon and Issac; and sole surviving sister Jenny Piatoka, who is doing fine out on the west coast. Rose was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Joe (March 25, 2002); parents Katrina and Peter; and sisters: Kay Dembicke, Anny Ledinski and Mary Oneski. We give special thanks to all the friends and relatives who came to visit her in the hospice over the past 10 weeks, up until the last 5 days she was often happy and cheerful with all the stories that were told back and forth. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Rose's family through www.evanjstrong.com. Arrangements in care of EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL SERVICES. (403) 265-1199.

NEWTON, Ernest "Ernie" John Born on August 9, 1918 in Elora, Ontario to Annie Odorizzi and William Newton, passed away peacefully at the Vigi Queen-Elizabeth Centre in Montreal on June 17, 2016. World War II pilot with the RCAF, Ernest leaves behind his cherished wife and best friend of 70 years, Nancy Margaret Newton (Blyth); his children, Dr. Edward Newton (Lynda Harkness), Janice Newton (Glenn Larsen, deceased), Deborah Newton (Luc Brault), Dale Newton, Dr. Brian Newton (deceased) and Nancy J. Newton; grandchildren, Julia (Wally), Ernest (Coleen), Matthew, Stacey (Justin) and Andrew and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kaylee, Aurora, Alina, Nalah, Landen, Quentin and Eddie. Ernest was a very creative man, a well-known jeweler, a passionate inventor and holder of 3 patents as well as a real estate broker. He was a founding member of two successful NDG real estate companies, Nancy Newton Realty and Royal LePage Groupe Newton. The bond from family to work went beyond the ordinary. Ernie always loved having a true "family business" and he worked for many years, albeit sometimes not in the public eye, alongside his wife, Nancy and his daughters, Janice, Debbie, Dale and Nancy J. and grandson Matthew. Even with failing health in the past couple of years, one of the first things Dad would ask is "How is business?" and "How are prices?" The Newton family would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to Gisele, Brenda and all the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Vigi Centre. Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home at 5610 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, H4A 1W5. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 4455 West Broadway Street, Montreal, H4B 2A7.
