Lieutenant Andrew Richard Nuttall, 30, was killed Dec. 23, 2009, by an improvised explosive device that detonated during a foot patrol in Panjwaii District, approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Kandahar City.

Nuttall — a member of 1st Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton — is the 134th Canadian solder to be killed since Canada's mission in Afghanistan began in 2002.
