COMPTON , Ethan St. Clair April 11, 1917 - December 21, 2009 Ethan Compton passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Joan, his brother-in-law, Norman Neame, sisters-in-law Edna Martin, Margaret Compton and Marianne Compton and many loving nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Ethan was predeceased by his parents and his three brothers Al, Cecil and Bruce. A native Calgarian, World War II R.C.A.F. Leading Aircraftsman, long-time Earl Grey Golf Club and Gyro Club member, Ethan will be remembered as a passionate skier, hiker and world traveler, with a keen wit, sharp mind and loving heart. He was long-time co-owner of Premier Cycle and originator, with Bruce, of the Herald and Premier Ski Schools. His legacy includes the thousands of youngsters he introduced to the sport he held a life-long passion for. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 1407 - 7 Avenue N.W., Calgary on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ethan's memory may be made to The Calgary Foundation 700, 999 - 8 Street S.W., Calgary, AB T2R 1J5, Attention "Ethan and Joan Compton Fund".
