Francis J. Guzzardi, age 88, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He was the husband of Joan A. (Brunelli) Guzzardi.
Born on September 21, 1937 in Waterbury, Fran was the son of the late Frank and Genevieve (Calderone) Guzzardi. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. Fran worked as a chemical operator for Uniroyal/Naugatuck Chemical for over 35 years until his retirement.
A longtime fan of the NY Yankees and the UCONN Women's Basketball team, Fran enjoyed watching the games on television. He loved his trips to the casino, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Popi."
In addition to Joan, his beloved wife of 63 years, Fran is survived by his two sons, Frank J. Guzzardi and his wife Jennifer of Bristol and John J. Guzzardi and his wife Michelle of Plainville; and his beloved grandchildren Allie Guzzardi and John J. Guzzardi, Jr., both of Plainville and Dominic Guzzardi and Jacob Guzzardi, both of Bristol. He also leaves his sister Angela Mesick of Willimantic and his sister-in-law Patty Walsh and her husband James of Oakville as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony "Ace" M. Guzzardi and his brother-in-law Neil Mesick.

Fran's funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury. Fran's family will be at church at 9:30 a.m. to greet their guests. Burial with full military honors will be private. There are no calling hours.
