Charles Marracino Obituary

Charles Robert "Bob" Marracino
October 22, 2025
Charles Robert Marracino "Bob" a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished mechanical engineer, passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2025, with his family by his side. Bob was born on November 18, 1942, in Torrington, Connecticut. He was the son of Nicholas and Mary (Giampaolo) Marracino.
Bob pursued his education at the University of Connecticut, where he completed three of four years toward his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Torrington Manufacturing Company, Nidec America Corporation in Torrington as Chief Mechanical Design Engineer, and Electric Motion Company in Winsted. Among his many achievements, Bob worked with Japanese engineers and Asian tooling suppliers, consulting and educating them in US engineering methods and terminology. He designed the new sleeve bearing fan (patented) successfully setting up manufacturing in England. He authored a magazine article and presented an ASME paper on Four-Slide Cams. In total, he obtained eight USA patents and one Japanese patent for his innovative designs.
In addition, he proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Bob was an avid runner and tennis player, who loved to read and travel. He enjoyed traveling to Newport, California, and London. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, where he was President of the Holy Name Society for two years. Subsequently, he faithfully attended Our Lady of Hope Parish.
Bob is deeply mourned by his family, his beloved wife of 58 years and best friend, Evelyn, and his cherished daughters Amy Ranallo of Bloomfield, CT, Krista Eddy of West Hartford, CT, his twin sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Dowd of Torrington, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was the proud grandfather of two grandsons, Charlie Eddy and Devon Ranallo, who will carry on his legacy of creativity and perseverance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas Marracino.
Bob loved work and Bob loved people. But his proudest achievements were his family and his home. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Our Lady of Hope Parish) 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.
