Alvin Berg

Alvin Phillip Berg, 87, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013 at home in Loveland from congestive heart failure. He was born November 9, 1926 in Ogema, WI to Frank and Anna Berg. Alvin married Vivian Dahl on August 26, 1950. He built and owned the still-operational Dog 'n Suds restaurant in Tomahawk, WI for many years. Alvin was a WW II Army Veteran. After moving to Loveland in 1969, Al worked at Deines Lumber and then Kodak in Windsor, CO for 11 years. He, Vivian, and daughter Lisa then spent eight years in Fullerton, CA (where Al continued his work at lumber-related companies), and ten years in Nashville, TN (where he enjoyed working as a grocery bagger). The family returned to Loveland in 2004. Alvin loved his family, reading Louis L'Amour westerns, doing crossword puzzles, baseball, polka music, animals, and his Swedish heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna; sisters Edith, Elna, and Adeline; brothers Edwin, Emil, Walfred, Albert, Robert, Lloyd, Evar, Arnold, and Eugene; and wife Vivian. He is survived by daughter Lisa of Loveland. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland, Chaplain Maria McLain Cox officiating, interment in Resthaven Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lisa Berg for future charitable organization donations.
