Bill Hughes

Bill Hughes passed away on March 21, 2013 at home. He was born on October 21, 1946 in San Bernadino, California to Melvern Clark and Margaret Francis (Wiley) Hughes. Since his father was in the military, Bill attended schools in Kentucky, Germany, Montana, Japan and California. He graduated from Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, California and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Janet Davis in 1965. They later divorced. He moved to Colorado in 1976. Bill married Delores Massey in 1991. He worked as Service Manager in several GM dealerships throughout Colorado until his retirement in 2007. Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #1051 in Loveland. In earlier years he enjoyed building and restoring cars, fishing, hunting, softball and golf. He also enjoyed watching sports and traveling. Bill is survived by his wife, Delores (Dee); sons David of Lakewood, Colorado and Wayne (Debbie) Hughes of Golden, Colorado; stepchildren Tina Newton (Ray) of Loveland and Michael Massey (Erin) of Wellington, Colorado; sister Peggy Ann Belcher of Oklahoma; mother-in-law Esther Muhlenbruck of Loveland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Carole Muhlenbruck of Loveland; grandchildren Andrew Massey and fiancée Jamie Bristol of Johnstown, Colorado, Trey Hughes and fiancée Amber Rogstadt and Amy Hughes of Golden, Colorado Steven Hughes of Texas; Kelsey and Caleb Massey of Wellington and Ryan Hughes of Lakewood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Donnie and sister Marilyn Hughes, father-in-law Herbert Muhlenbruck, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bruce and Ruth Starck, brother-in-law Darrel Muhlenbruck and great-nephew Cody Starck. A special thanks goes to Pastors John Israel and Mark Nierman at Mount Olive Lutheran Church and the staff at Pathways Hospice for their excellent care and support during Bill's illness.
