Donald L. Hill past away, April 12, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ, at the age of 82 with his daughters by his side. He was born on the family farm west of McCook, NE, on April 29th, 1931. He was the youngest of 8 children born to Charles Lee and Pearl Mae Hill. Don married Norma Lee Roberts on Sept. 3, 1950 in Culbertson, Ne. He served in the army
from April 1952 to April 1954. He was a mechanic in the army and was stationed in France. He was a Parts Manager for Hormel Chevrolet until he bought an upholstery shop in McCook. He moved his family to Loveland, CO in January 1970 and began a career in construction. Don built many homes in the Loveland area. He also built the Windstraw Shopping Center on W. Eisenhower, a medical building on W. 15th Street, a business complex on N. Lincoln and was the original developer of the Northwest Nine Condominiums located at Cattail Golf Course. He owned and operated Windstraw Home Improvement with his wife Norma. Don also established and operated D&I Prehung Door with his brother Ivan. He enjoyed working. It was his greatest passion. He also enjoyed living in Arizona during the winter months. He enjoyed restoring cars, tractors, and pedal cars. He became an excellent wood craftsman, making several pieces of furniture for his family. He was a member of the Old Car Club in Loveland. As a couple, they enjoyed his motorcycle, riding on several trips with friends. Don was preceded in death by his wife Norma, his parents, 4 sisters, and 1 brother. He is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in law; Judy Schmidt, husband Randy, Carol Willis, husband Bruce, Suzette Bryant, husband Rod, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his brother Howard, wife Marie, and brother Ivan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Don Hill's name to Seasons Hospice, 2020 N.
