James "Jim" Farmer

James "Jim" Farmer, age 87, of Ft. Collins, CO passed away at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland on February 26th, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born October 22nd, 1925 in Burlington, IA to Lou and Gladys Farmer. He grew up in Burlington and Ottumwa, IA and Hannibal, MO. Jim served in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist's Mate 2nd class in WWII and the Korean conflict. He attended Colorado A&M in Ft. Collins, studying science and economics. Jim married Barbara L. Rowland July 24th, 1954 in Ft. Collins. He resided in Loveland, Estes Park and Ft. Collins the past 52 years. He worked in the power operations industry for the Federal government and Platte River Power Authority. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, traveling the western states with his wife and spending time with his daughters and their families. Jim is survived by his wife, daughters LuAnne (Al) Hicks and Leigh (Allan) Larson, sister Joyce Majure, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Edward Jack Farmer and one great-grandchild. Jim's wisdom, love and support will be greatly missed by his family. His was a life well lived. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service in Ft. Collins. Cremation has taken place.
