Judith Nibbelink

"Judy" Nibbelink, 94, of Loveland, Colorado passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family. Judy was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She attended school in Springfield and Belmont, Mass, and graduated from High School in El Paso, TX. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was the first and only woman in her architectural classes. She joined Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and was awarded her 75 year pin in 2012. She married Harry Nibbelink in New York City in 1946 after his return from the war and they celebrated 50 years together in 1996. Judy is survived by her children, Dan Nibbelink (Sally), Judy Kay Nibbelink, Ron Nibbelink (Sabrina), Becky Johnson, Ken Nibbelink (Stacy), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We all remember her fondly as a loving and supporting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Judy left her mark of kindness on the world in many different ways. She was actively involved at All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland, St. Peters Church when she lived in Rockport, TX and St. Lukes in Fort Collins. She spent countless volunteer hours with her sorority at both the local and national levels. She helped at Castaways Thrift Shop in Rockport, which distributed funds back into the community. She helped make teddy bears (for McKee Medical Center) at the Wexford where she lived in Loveland. (A volunteer gave one to her great-granddaughter while we stayed with her in Hospice.) She was a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader for many years. She played in numerous bridge groups over the years and helped organize the retired military officers and officer's wives groups in Fort Collins, Colorado where she lived for 31 years. She could travel all over the United States and never stay in a Hotel because she had friends and family everywhere. She enjoyed people most of all. Judy's memorial service will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3448 N. Taft Avenue, Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Judith P. Nibbelink Memorial Fund, in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home or at the memorial service. The family would like to make a donation in Judy's honor to Pathways Hospice who so graciously and compassionately took care of her and her family during her final week.
