Oliver Horace Darling, 89, of Loveland died July 26, 2014 at his son's home surrounded by family. He was born August 28, 1924 in Glendale, California to Charles H. and Olive L. Darling. He received the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Award in 1941. Oliver enlisted in the US Army
on September 16, 1942 at Ft. Macarthur, California. While in the service he participated in the Normandy Invasion, battles and campaigns in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945. Oliver worked for Mobil Pipeline Corp, for 34 years out of Wilmington, California. On January 17, 1954 he married Sue Ann Cilyo in West Hollywood, California. They lived in Burbank California for 40 years before moving to Colorado where he lived for 17 years, the last three years in Loveland. He is survived by his sister Catherine Dickey of Whidbey Island, WA; son Douglas J. Darling; daughter-in-law Elizabeth C. Darling; his grandchildren Oliver J. and Nicole C. Darling; and his very loyal cat "Butch". He is preceded in death by his parents and wife. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 8th 2014, 10:00 A.M. at Viegut Funeral Home.
