Robert Daniels

Robert “Bob” Daniels passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 @ 4:25 pm in the Pathways Hospice unit of Mckee Medical Center, Loveland Colorado, after a lengthy illness. Son of James & Ruth Whitney Daniels and born in Speed, Kansas, Bob grew up and attended school in Stockton, Kansas. He left high school early to join the Navy (as a Sea Bee) during WWII and served on Guam for 1½ years. Following discharge he returned to Stockton, where he met and married a high school teacher, Miss Georgia Schraeder on May 31, 1947 and celebrated 65½ of marriage! Bob received his BA and Masters in Math at UNC (where he lettered in Football) and later a Masters in Education Administration. He then began his career in coaching, teaching and school administration, starting as a math teacher and coach in North Platte, Nebraska, Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Loveland, Colorado, returning to Glenwood Springs as High School Principal. After a short period with D.C. Heath and Co. in Toledo, Iowa, he returned to school administration as Assistant Principal at Conrad Ball Junior High in Loveland, Colorado. He finished his career as the first Principal of Turner Middle School in Berthoud, Colorado, where he retired in 1987. His passions (apart from coaching and teaching) were his wife and family, hunting, fishing, golf, bridge, football (Broncos), baseball (Rockies), softball (he was a fast-pitch pitcher in a league on the western slope), basketball and bowling. In fact, all sports. He also loved building (he built two of his own homes and a cabin in his beloved ColoradoMountains), crossword puzzles and Sudoku (which he did in ink!). He enjoyed world travel including a special trip to Bogota, Colombia to act as God-Parents at the wedding of Jens Mesa-Dishington, a foreign exchange student who really became like part of the family in 1973/4). Friends and church were a vital part of his full and happy life!
