Rolland Walker

Loveland native and former long time resident, Rolland C Walker, passed away on April 25. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Loris, children James Walker, Holly Walker Shaw (Robert), Bobbi Walker Whisenhunt (John), grandchildren, Natasha Whisenhunt Martin (Nick) and Kate Whisenhunt, sister Carol Walker Mosher (Harry, dec) of Palo Alto Ca, formerly of Loveland, and brother Willard L Walker (Til) of Loveland. Son Douglas Walker, deceased. Rolland was born near Greeley, son of George A. and Frederica Brose Walker. He lettered on the 1936 state runnerup Loveland HS football team and was on the wrestling squad at Colorado A&M. He graduated from Loveland HS in 1937 and from Colorado A&M School of Engineering (BS) and Advanced ROTC in 1941. He enlisted in the US Army as a 2nd Lt in Aug 1941, spent 2 1/2 years in the Pacific and was discharged from active duty in 1946 but remained in the Army Reserve till the early '70s. In those post-war years he graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College, Ft Leavenworth, Kansas and did graduate engineering studies at Colorado State U. In Dec 1945 he married Loris Carol Greene in Davenport IA. They made Loveland their home in 1946 where he worked with his father at Walker Farm Implements (Kelim) in the family farm equipment and wheat ranching businesses. In 1960 he resumed engineering at Martin Marietta, Denver, Co. In 1962 they moved to Sacramento, CA where he was an aerospace engineer, first at Aerojet General Corporation, then at McClellan AFB. A dedicated lifelong church member, he was also Past Master of the Masonic Lodge (joined in Loveland, 1950), Member of Scottish Rite and a Shriner for over 60 years. He joined Rotary International, Loveland, in 1952, was past president of North Sacramento Rotary Club and was an active Rotarian till his passing. Rolland was happiest when surrounded by his family. He and Loris traveled extensively, worldwide, but especially enjoyed trips to Europe, Hawaii and Mexico with the whole family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
