Ron Carter(1953 - 2014)

On Friday, July 11th, at 7:11am, Ronald M. Carter, "Ron", passed away. Ron was born on March 21, 1953 in Delta, Colorado to Harland "Slim" and Kathryn Wiggins-Carter. He grew up on the family ranch in Montana and later moved to Grand Junction, and married Darla J. Stephens. Ron and Darla had one son, "Gabe", and later moved to Loveland. He studied Psychology and Law at Mesa State University. Having to go back to work full-time and end his college days to take care of his new family, Ron went back to work in the oilfields. He spent much of his life as a hard working construction worker/owner, as well as an avid outdoorsman. White water rafting, skiing, rattlesnake hunting, Indian artifact and coin collecting, are just a few of the many things Ron enjoyed doing. In 1998 Ron was blessed with his only grandchild, Michael Gabriel Carter. Fond memories include fishing, camping, target shooting, music, and the simple things life has to offer. Ron is preceded in death by his father, Harland Carter, wife, Darla J. Carter, brother, David Carter, and family dog, Gandalf. Ron is survived by his mother Kathryn Wiggins-Carter, sister, Christy Carter, and brother, Rick Carter, all of Sheridan, Wyoming. He is also survived by one son Ronald Gabriel Carter and grandson, Michael Gabriel Carter, of Fort Collins, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron will be remembered for his contagious smile, dry humor, and mostly as a very simple kind of man. "Never Goodbye, but until we meet again." Contributions can be made to the Ronald M. Carter Memorial Fund c/o Viegut Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of the Carter's 1500 W. Prospect Avenue in Fort Collins on Saturday, July 19th from 2-5pm.
