Sharyle Akins

The Lord called to his Kingdom Ms. Sherry Akins of Loveland on Sunday December 29, 2013. Sherry was a native of Loveland, Colorado and a graduate of Loveland High School. She attended The University of Colorado completing her Registered Nursing degree and worked as an Operating Room Nurse in Denver, Colorado in her early career. The course of her life took her from Colorado to Virginia to Japan where her first son was born while her family was stationed at Misawa Air Force Base. Upon her return to the United States, she resided in Temple, Texas where she gave birth to her daughter and to her second son. Upon moving to Union City, Tennessee, she gave birth to her final son and with her family spent the next 15 years attending her childrens' countless school functions, sporting events and summer baseball games. She returned home to Loveland with her children in June 1989 and continued her selfless dedication and commitment to raising her children. Throughout their time at Thompson Valley she remained a constant fixture supporting their every endeavor never missing a single game or school function. She continued to reside in Loveland even as her children's lives moved them around the country and remained an integral part of the lives of her friends and neighbors. She maintained a true love of life and would go out of her way to ensure a sense of optimism among her company. Second only to her love of her children was her love for animals, Colorado Buffaloes athletics, and the Denver Broncos. A great daughter, friend, neighbor, but above all else, MOTHER whose dedication and selfless actions to ensure the success and well-being of her children was never in question. She was preceded in passing by her father, Fred Drake, by her mother, Datha Drake, and by her two sisters LaVon Beattie and Rae Dyne Sales. She is survived by her children Chas Akins (43); Melissa Bauman (41) and her husband Andy; Todd Akins (40) and his wife Glenda and their children Priscilla, Joanna, Aaron, and Alexandra; and Scott Akins and his wife Chessa and their children Jackson, Savannah, and Sawyer; as well as her cousin Susan Williams and family, Jessica Nadal and family, Troy Beattie and family, and numerous dear friends who were truly considered to be family. Mom, may you feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair as you dance with the angels. We love you and cannot wait until we are with you again. Love your children!
