Clifton Virgil Uber, 53, of Berthoud, Colorado, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 of natural causes at his home. Cliff was born in Denver on November 12, 1959 and grew up in the Berthoud area. He graduated from Fletcher Miller School in Lakewood, CO where he was active in soccer, basketball and wrestling. He worked many places, including Storage Tec Although challenged by cerebral palsy he lived his life to the fullest. He was determined to succeed and he did. A true inspiration to all. He was a quiet, selfless, passionate man. Known for his quiet nature, strength, independence, determination, sense of humor, and positive attitude, but he will forever be remembered by his infectious mustached smile. He was often found riding his four-wheeler in Berthoud, helping others in the community or checking things off his bucket list, such as participating in the Special Olympics, playing basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters, lifting weights, riding in race cars, water skiing, driving sled dogs, flying in a helicopter, taking a cruise, riding his handcycle 22 miles and riding horses. Nine years ago Cliff discovered his true passion...riding, volunteering and training at Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Loveland, CO. Determined to be the best horseman possible, with the assistance of the dedicated instructors and volunteers at HH and after years of developing high-level equine skills and building self-confidence, Cliff progressed from requiring two side-walkers and a horse leader to becoming a graceful and skilled rider who was recently awarded Independent Adult Rider of the Year by PATH Intl. He set a stellar example of what can be done on horseback or off by persons with or without a disability. Cliff was predeceased by father, Virgil Uber, and survived by mother, Beulah Gibson, sisters Connie Sprague, Debbie Uber, Dot Uber, Tami Uber, brother, Jerry Uber, and countless loving friends and relatives. Cliff will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Ride on, Cliff, ride on. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 3:30pm in the arena at Hearts and Horses. Please join us in warm casual western attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hearts and Horses by mail or at heartsandhorses.org or to his family at Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 N.
