F. Ray DeGood Obituary
Ray DeGood, 79, died suddenly, April 8, 2014 after a massive heart attack at Northern Colorado Medical Center. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ray's journey commenced on March 27, 1935 in Gulfport, Mississippi, born to Raymond G. and Rowena A. (Hoffmeister) DeGood. They came to Loveland in 1945. Ray graduated from the University of Colorado in 1957 with a BS degree in business finance. During that time he joined the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Ray married his high school sweetheart Patricia G. Foster on June 12, 1957. Patsy preceded Ray in death in 2006. Ray was commissioned in the U.S. Navy in June 1957. He was an officer on several ships. He attended the University of Colorado School of Law graduating in 1963. He formed is own law firm in 1964. Ray was a Bar Association board member and president. He received an "Outstanding Professional" award given up by the Larimer County Bar Association and was selected to the Colorado Bar Foundation. He was a member and chair of various local and state law committees. Ray retired from law in 1994. Ray was active in numerous community organizations such as Rotary, McKee Medical Center Foundation, Session of Mountain View Presbyterian Church, and Foothills Gateway as well as other numerous charitable organizations. He enjoyed numerous activities such as fishing, golfing and spending time in his beloved mountains. RV trips with family and friends as well as trips on the motorcycle were additional highlights of his life. Ray is survived by his wife Kae DeGood whom he married on July 21, 2008, as well as his son Dan DeGood, daughter Sarah Poulson (Sean Beard) and granddaughter Savannah Poulson. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Schelling(Ron) and numerous other family members. A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Cremation has been completed. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Presbyterian Church or Larimer County Humane Society in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
