Obituary Condolences

James Malcolm Curtis entered into eternal life and to the embrace of God on October 30, 2012. Jim was born to Bonniebelle and Cecil Curtis on March 8, 1938 in Loveland, CO where he remained a lifelong resident. He was baptized at All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland where his widowed mother, Bonniebelle, worked for many years. Following graduation from Loveland High School in 1958, Jim worked as Quality Control Manager at Forney Industries in Fort Collins and at Silvaire Aircraft Company. Later, Jim begin a 30 year Civil Service career with the United States Army, Field Artillery Division, where he held the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Following his Civil Service retirement, Jim worked at Loveland RV in Loveland. Jim was a proud member of the V.F.W. and the Loveland Elks B.P.O.E. where he once served as Exalted Ruler. Jim was predeceased by Dorothy "Dottie" Curtis, his wife of 32 years in February 2010. He was also predeceased by his brothers Jack and Ward Curtis and sister Muriel Walker. Jim is survived by his sons, the Rev. Kenton James Curtis of New York, NY; Greg Curtis (Dawn) of Loveland; his daughter Lori Girard (Paul) of Linden, VA; and six grandchildren, Connor, Lauren and Cameron Curtis, and Gerhig, Madison and Cameron Girard. He is survived by sister Marilyn (Robert) Lenhardt of Colorado Springs, his brothers-in-law, Harold Walker of Missoula, MT and Bob, Gary and Danny Byerly of Colorado and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews. In 1960, Jim married Geri Abromski. Two sons, Kent and Greg, were born. Following the dissolution of their 13 year marriage, Jim met and married Dottie Lieberman in 1978. During their 32 year marriage, he and Dottie raised their daughter Lori. Jim is also affectionately remembered by his very special childhood and life-long friend, Dallas Kalahar of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Geri, his friend and mother of their sons and members of her family including Ken Abromski of Loveland and Dr. Jeanne Jensen of New York, NY. A warm, kind, and loving man, Jim "never knew a stranger". While we, his family and friends, shall grieve, we shall also celebrate Jim's life for he touched each and every one of us in profound and wonderful ways. A Memorial Communion Service will he held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 3448 North Taft Avenue, Loveland, CO. Please join Jim's family for a reception in the church parish hall following the interment of ashes in the Columbarium at All Saint. Following the reception, services will be continue at graveside with full military honors at Loveland BurialPark.
