Patrick Fischer Obituary
Patrick Roddy Fischer passed away on Sunday April 6, 2014 at his home in Loveland, Co. Patrick was born on November 21, 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, to M. Roddy Fischer and Pauline Phillipp Fischer. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, O.E. Bell and Skyline High School and was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Idaho Falls. Pat graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Geology and then worked for the USGS before moving to Fort Collins, CO where he worked for several environmental companies. While in Colorado, he married Diane (DeeDee) Schmitz on October 17, 1992. His love for Geology took them from Colorado to Bishop, CA where he managed a lithium mine in Silver Peak, NV. On April 15, 1997, his daughter Hailey Sierra Patricia was born. As a family they moved to St. Genevieve, MO where he worked as a Quarry Manager. They resided there for 7 years before moving to Loveland, CO where he once again worked as Quarry Manager for the past 8 years. Patrick enjoyed the outdoors; he loved biking, fishing, and hunting with his Dad and brothers. He was an avid reader from the time he was a kid and played football in high school, where he made many friends that still remain friends today. He loved his family and his mother's fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy. His laughter was contagious and he loved a good joke. He also enjoyed picking (teasing) on people, especially his daughter Hailey. One of Pat's favorite things in the world was to watch his daughter play basketball. He rarely missed a game and could always be heard yelling "go 3-5" whenever she took the floor. He had a massive collection of fossils that grew in the family's yard for years and always loved sharing his work with the kids in the neighborhood or friends of his daughter, taking many of the kids on tours of the mine and showing them the trucks, rocks, and explosions. He also gave many local and international companies tours of the mine on his own time, though always enjoyed taking the kids that much more. Patrick is survived by his lovely wife DeeDee and beautiful daughter Hailey, his parents M. Roddy and Pauline Fischer (Twin Falls, ID), and his siblings and their families, Therese (Dick) Roemer (Twin Falls, ID), Kas Fischer (Black Hawk, CO), Karen Little (Twin Falls, ID), Alex (Anne Shaffer) Fischer (Frederick, CO), Carroll Fischer (Pocatello, ID), Mike (Linda) Fischer (Kingston, ID), and Christine (Bryon) Waite (Pocatello, ID). He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alex and Nora Fischer and Joseph and Frances Phillipp. A celebration of Patrick's life will be held at LifeSpring Covenant Church in Loveland, CO on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11am. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CP of Colorado (Ability Connection Colorado), Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County.
