Richard L. Espinosa Obituary
Heaven received a precious soul on Thursday, April 25, 2013, when Richard L. Espinosa "Rick", of Loveland, CO, left this earthly life. Rick passed away suddenly after a hard-fought battle against many health problems. Rick was born June 30, 1950 in Greeley, CO to John and Lucy Espinosa. He grew up in Colorado and Chicago. Rick proudly joined the United States Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Rick returned to Colorado and was employed at Kodak in Windsor, provided security services with The Federal Police in Denver and Hewlett Packard in Loveland. He found his niche in healthcare security and worked for HSS at McKee Medical Center in Loveland and Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins until he could no longer work because of his health. In 1990, he met Vicki, and as they say, the rest is history. In his younger, healthier years, Rick enjoyed his Harley Davidsons, camping, and fishing. Cooking became his hobby later in life, and he was known for many wonderful creations. Rick loved nature, all animals, and 60's and 70's music. Rick's faith in God always sustained him. He was a caring, kind-hearted man who would do anything for anyone. He also had a rowdy and mischievous side. He was always quick with a story or a joke. Rick cherished his family. We knew we were well-loved, as was he. He is greatly missed. Rick was preceded in death by his father, John Espinosa, his mother, Lucy Espinosa, and his brother, John M. Espinosa. Rick is survived by his wife, Vicki Morgan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joy and Al Morgan; sisters, Liz Strehlow (Ed) and Kathy Otero (Mike); sister-in-laws, Ophelia Espinosa, Tara Gilzean (Dave), and Kelly Ungerman (Pete); brother-in-law, Jim Morgan; nieces Desiree Kruise (Ken), Pam Lovell (Dave), Morgan Gilzean, Natalie Hanson, and Cassandra Ungerman; nephews, John I. Espinosa (Victoria Montoya), Robert Otero, Perry Otero, Cole Deringer, Spencer Morgan, Tyler Gilzean, and Donie Ungerman; great niece, Alyssa Kruise; great nephew Nathan Kruise; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30th, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
