Leslie Smith Obituary
Les Smith, 94, passed away February 6th, 2014, at The Bridge Assisted Living Center in Longmont, CO. He was born February 4, 1920, in Inavale, NE to Harry and Hazel (Harrington) Smith as the 3rd of seven children. They moved to Colorado and worked a homestead. He joined the Army in 1941 and was in The Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He was discharged in 1945 and returned home to Colorado. He was proud of his service to his country. He married Bonnie Eastin in 1948 and gained two children, Robert and Jean Bennett. Les had several careers over his lifetime, he was the owner of the City Cafe in Wray, CO, and Heady's Motor Court in Loveland. He also worked as a carpenter and driver. Les and Bonnie moved from Loveland to Hamilton, MT in 1984, then to Canon City, CO then to Longmont, CO in 2000. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie, his two children, and all of his siblings. He is survived by six grand children many great grand children, several great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Les loved to fish and was very good at it. He also loved to build things out of wood. He enjoyed bowling when he was younger, and he loved to play cards. Later in life he was an avid Rockies fan and never missed a game on TV. He was an honest hard working man who helped out his family. A Funeral Service will be held 1 pm Thursday, February 13 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens.
